Nothing has proven through repetitive appearance to be more "natural" than human warfare (regardless of gender). This is not to say that it is a thing to be glorified or made a goal. However, if any soldier is to be applauded, these women should certainly be included in the list.

That women fighting men seems unnatural to you is perhaps understandable, since it is uncommon in your experience. Still, it is inherently no more horrible than is men fighting men or women fighting women.

And if you are saying these women did not play by the rules simply because they fought, because they were brave warriors, you could not be more wrong.

You know, men and men killing each other is horrible, women and women doing awful things to each other, even killing them in rage, is horrible. Men and women killing each other, or inflicting grievous violence on each other is not natural, it is a good thing those women were subjugated by the French, I feel sorry for the French soldiers who hesitated and died becuase they had the correct scruples, and would not harm women who could be their lovers, mothers, or sisters. I applaud those who pulled the trigger in time for realizing that their enemy did not play by the rules.

Here's another woman doing this act. As far as I know ONLY women have done this. Can this mean that females are potentially stronger than males on a strength per body weight basis? Possibly
Ah yes, the familiar faces I spoke of. Weaver and Rodriguez in the same flick, directed by James Cameron--it has the pedigree for awesome entertainment. (I hope he doesn't drown us in special effects, though.)
Avatar is soooooo on my list. I'm thrilled by the female cast of characters, particularly "Lt. Ripley" Sigourney Weaver and Michelle Rodriguez.

I'm afraid the Earhart movie will be disappointing -- the trailers don't inspire me. But perhaps I'll be wrong. Let's hope so; this is certainly a story I'd love to see told on the big screen.
Thanks for the heads-up!

I read she was a competitive athlete in school and did very well in sprint freestyle swimming.

If she's raising a family this lifestyle may not offer what she is looking for right now.

Maybe she'll come back when she's older and a little bored. It would be fun to see those old bones again.

I noticed this most recently in the horrible comments left by guys in various forums where the story about DeEtta Peterson, the 49 year old woman from WA who is trying to make her debut in the MMA cage this year, was published. (I published a short BP on her: http://www.theglowingedge.com/grandma-wants-a-fight/)

I was astonished at the level of hatred and sexualization, and honestly can't figure it out.

Would love to hear more people's thoughts on the subject.

Okay, that's about enough from Tony: enough to see that Susan has upset him, perhaps by raising in his own mind doubts about the supremacy of the male athletes he dotes on; further, that he doesn't grasp the difference between identifying a trend and discussing things as they presently are.

I don't agree with Susan that men are shrinking (unless perhaps in a relative sense) but women are without question increasing in athletic prowess. A bald, demonstrable truth that won't be refuted by mere hyperbole from a reactionary.

To be honest, I was going to delete his comment entirely, but decided instead to make an example of it. Don't expect in the future to see such prattle displayed here.
