The sorry state of television

Cogent points are made in this worthwhile piece by Kym of Championing Ourselves. If you're like me, you'll find yourself nodding your head in agreement through most of it. Not only a lament, the piece outlines what could be the ideal female action series and even gives directions on who should star (Rhona Mitra heads the short list, to which I would add Jessica Biel and perhaps a few others).

Yes, I should have included Biel as the potential partner, as I think she's great...just a tad too young for my main character. Even Mitras is a little on the young side. At 46, I don't want my role models to be young enough to be my daughter...even if I have to deal with the fact it is pushing it for them to be even older than I am.

I understand. No, Biel wouldn't be an option if the script calls for a 40+ heroine. But Biel starring in her own action series is an appealing idea.

Indeed, she's got it and I really shouldn't have left her out of the "younger partner" line-up. After all, I want a female partnership and both to be buff, as there always has to be some partnership. None of that male-female or tough female/girly-girl thing. I'm hoping to see Biel show her stuff for a long time to come. Of course, by the time the world is ready for a show featuring a tough woman in her late 30s or even 40s, Biel might be old enough...and hopefully still going strong!
